Such A Colorful Guy

Hola, and hello. I was out with a cold/flu/curse yesterday... so I am easing back into things this morning. I made a few changes to this initial sketch, and then slapped some color on it. A nice simple activity that does not require me to strain my brain.

Master of the Universe

I enjoyed my long weekend, although this head cold that I am now experiencing is an unwelcome pest. This was a fun scribble to do, since one of my favorite shows in all the world growing up was "Masters of the Universe." I hope to finish this, and do a few more "80's Cartoon" drawings over the next two weeks. There are a few different things I hope to show on the blog this week, so stay tuned.

The holiday weekend is upon us,and I am prepared to enjoy it. Family time, down time, possibly a movie and/or video gaming. Ahhh, life is good.

Mario Survives!

While not quite the man he was intended to be, Mario survives the week! Link was not quite as fortunate, and Kirby ate himself into a stupor... but Mario bucked the trend of demise and won the race. He was then beaten senseless by a mushroom.

Power Trio

Wow, this week has been rough on my "Morning Drawing" segment. Power outages, trips to the DMV, magical gnomes sleeping in my junk drawer... it never ends! I feel that this piece will not be what it was trying to be. For this week, I will settle for an unfinished vision.

Now I am off to kick those gnomes out of my filing cabinet.

Powerless

This is all I got this morning. I had bigger plans. The power went out at the studio... and that is bad news when it comes to computers and robots. I need both to complete my morning drawing. Sigh.

Wind Up Mario

The Turtle

My extremely talented friend Nelson Gonzalez sketched up this awesome turtle, and allowed me to quickly color it up. I may have sucked all of the charm out of his quirky sketch, but I took a shot. This is an extraordinarily angry turtle. Apparently he is angry at some "commies."

Be sure to check out Nelson's blog that I have linked above, as he has posted a more developed turtle sketch. I will try to talk him into doing a "Commie Hating Turtle" comic as soon as possible.

Sortof Samus

A "chunking-up" of the much more elegant Samus Aran from the "Metroid" games. As hard as I try, I can't lose the chunky cartoon stylings that I have come to rely on. I would like to clean this up a bit, and perhaps explore color. We shall see...

Wolverine Weekend

These are roughs for a little drawing blog that we do here at the studio. The Topic? "Men With Body Hair." No, not really... it's "Wolverine."

This weekend, the new Wolverine movie opens. I will more than likely go see it, since my oldest son is pretty pumped up about it. I can't say that I am expecting much... but I do hope to come away saying "Well, that one scene was pretty cool..." I have heard rumors that Batman makes an appearance, and apparently he arm wrestles Wolverine for the keys to the Batmobile.
