Busy Busy

The blog will be light on posts for a bit, as I get caught up on some big projects at work. They are great projects though, so you will get no complaints from me. See you again soon...

Spies and Sweet Treats

So, this is where Mr. Smoke ended up. I had hoped to take more time and "stylize" the elements a bit more, but the clock was against me. If this were a real project, I would probably re-work many of the elements... but since it was all for fun I will consider it a "mission accomplished."

And this is a birthday scribble for my co-worker Brad. He sure likes that "Street Fighter" game the kids are playing these days...

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

H.I.D - Human Infiltration Device (Video)

A little bit of "process." This drawing wasn't really interesting enough to record comments over. I have a "how I work in Photoshop" tutorial that I hope to put together soon.

You can view it in "HD" on the Vimeo site, or download it directly from that same page.

Then He Fell To Pieces

I think I may have seen this guy walking around at the local Wal-Mart.

This was a fun drawing that I did in Photoshop, and if I can get my ducks in a row, I will use it to show how I create this style of work. I recorded my process, so if I can come up with an audio track this week I will share. Have a good Monday.

A Hidden Alien Milestone

This rather strange fellow will hopefully be explored more in a future post. To me, it looks like a secret alien spy is using a fleshy robotic suit to walk among us. Or at least shuffle.

On a slightly less interesting note, I just realized that this is my 400th post on this blog. That is amazing to me. Thinking back to everything that has happened in my life over 400 posts... two children being born, the job changes, relocating to a different state, new friends, new family, life, death...it is mind blowing. Then when you pause to consider where you will be 400 posts from now... my mind just blew again. I thank each and every one of you for checking in with this blog and I appreciate your patience as I doodle my way through life.

Again, thank you.

Tis Monday

A furry space zombie chases a brain in a jar (in color)...

... and the next great secret agent, Dustin Smoke, gets ready to rock.

A Beginner's Look At A Tutorial

Simple PainterX Tutorial from Jeremy Vanhoozer on Vimeo.
I take you through my amazing (pretty plain) technique and process (nothing new) of drawing a simple robot in PainterX.

Please note: This is my first shot at marrying a voice over with a process video. Pay no attention to mispronunciations, the general abuse of the english language, and me saying "uhh" roughly 123 times. It's a start.

People ask me what tools I use in painter, and this is a basic walk through of my setup. My goal is to graduate to bigger projects and show how I work.

It's good to have goals.
thanks for watching.

(If you want an even huger version, you can view it in "HD" on Vimeo, or download it from Vimeo)
